spare change [Sep. 6th, 2006|10:02 am]
Previous Entry Add to Memories Share Next Entry
I don't usually do this, but:

Next week I'm doing the Jimmy Fund walk for cancer research, and I've gotta pass the hat for donations. I'm going to do the entire 26.2 mile Boston Marathon route, because it is fun to be a tough guy for charity. If you've spent any time around New England--or if you're watching Sox games on MLB Extra Innings--you know how big a deal the Jimmy Fund is for cancer research and treatment. If you know someone with cancer, if you don't know someone with cancer, every little bit helps.

So if you've got some coin to spare, click here to donate. As always, donations made under phony names/in honor of silly things are encouraged.

thanks!

I gave what I could, for plenty of reasons.

I have no explanation for what I wrote in the donation field, though. It was the best idea I had at the time.

You know I do cancer research, right? So, I consider it a donation to myself, yay!

Thank you for giving me the chance to donate to such a worthy cause. Be sure to keep us posted on the fundraising and tell us what it was like after you finish the walk!

I see you!

Totally unrelated---but you are in the pic on mlsnet.com for the bit about "Participate in an online fan survey." Cheers, chili

I have no idea who you are, save that you know EK, but do know that the fact that you pulled a pic of Friedel out of nowhere when I referenced Rovers has earned you my undying love and devotion.

...or something.

Anyway, nice to know there's another football fan around who knows Friedel and his faux-Brit-cent.

I've been one of EK's anime nerd buddies since 98 or so; when all of my soccer pals were at the US/Mexico WCQ in Columbus in 2005, I was at her wedding. Friedel is the reason I follow soccer at all--I fell in love with the whole thing watching Korea in 2002--thus follows I'm a Blackburn fan.

That wasn't just any photo, either; that was Friedel after scoring against Charlton.

CRAP! You're right! I hadn't even realized. I should have known from the HSA sponsor badge.

Congratulations. You have officially achieved a 9.0 on the ShaftMeter (10 being Shaft, 1 being Wayne Newton).

Also, since the club store doesn't sell keeper kit, I'm having one of the BRFCS members pick me up a set of Friedel kit from the club store at Ewood. If you want a set, that shouldn't be a problem to order. Just let me know - chase@harriswc.com

Thanks for the offer, but I've got two already--an 02-03 Rovers shirt (which subside still has in stock, for cheap) and an 04-06 US one. The one I've always wanted but can't track down is the red one from the 02 Worthington Cup final.

Good luck with that.

Your best bet is probably to post to the BRFCS memorabilia forum. That or the official club forum, though it isn't as active.

Wish I could help you on that one.

Thanks for the heads up on the Subside deal. They have the home kit in stock for that year as well, which I vastly prefer to this year's.

Anyway, Go you Rovers! 3-0 over Wigan! I'm starting to feel more comfortable about the rest of the season. And 2 clean sheets in a row for Big Brad!
